Our Mission

Our Core Promise

• To America‚Äôs Youth - To provide a safe, positive place and have a significant impact on their lives.

• To the Nation- To uphold high standards in all areas, especially in overseeing our finances, reporting data on membership and community outreach, being good stewards of the donor dollar and representing ourselves to the public.

• Vision for our Second Century - We envision a future in which the Boys & Girls Club movement is a catalyst for an age in which success is within reach of every child, and whole generations of children are inspired to a level of civic engagement not seen since the founding of our nation.

History

The Boys & Girls Club of San Bernardino (BGCSB) is part of a nationwide affiliation of local, autonomous organizations that work to help young people of all economic and social backgrounds develop the character qualities they need to become responsible and productive citizens and leaders.

In a world that seems threatening and devoid of promise for many of America's children, especially those from the inner cities, BGCSB provides a tangible measure of hope and safety, serving hundreds of local youth. The Club provides young people what they need and want most: adults who respect and listen to them; a safe environment where they can have fun and be themselves; and interesting, constructive activities that channel youthful energy into challenging pursuits. All BGCSB programs are based on youth development strategies that build self-confidence, self-esteem and foster a sense of belonging, competence, usefulness and influence. Read More

Service Area

San Bernardino is a city located in the Riverside-San Bernardino metropolitan area often referred to as the Inland Empire. San Bernardino is the 17th largest city in California, and the 99th largest city in the United States (Wikipedia, 2013).

Recent census data also suggests that the city of San Bernardino is the second, poorest large city in the country. Over 30% of the 200,000 plus San Bernardino residents live below the poverty level.

This has a number of attendant community and family issues for San Bernardino youth. The Boys & Girls Club of San Bernardino is committed to mitigating issues impacting our youth, and to improving their overall well being.
